What it is
In the Valencian Community vehicle inspection (ITV) is provided by the Sociedad Valenciana de Inspección Técnica de Vehículos (Sitval). Appointments are booked on its official website (sitval.com), where you choose the station, or by phone (960 88 22 00). Booking is free: the inspection fee is paid in person at the station. The Generalitat has warned about a fraudulent website (sitval.net) that charged for fake appointments.

When
Cars (M1): exempt up to 4 years; from 4 to 10 years, every two years; over 10 years, every year. Motorbikes (other L): exempt up to 4 years and then every two years. Mopeds: exempt up to 3 years and then every two years.

The station issues a report with the defects and result and gives you a copy; traffic officers can ask for the latest report.

No. The Generalitat warned about a fraudulent website charging to get ITV appointments; the appointment is free.

What if it fails?
With serious defects, the car can only go to the garage and return to the ITV within two months. With very serious defects (negative) it cannot be driven and must be moved by other means. If you return late, a full inspection is done.
