What it is

To apply for officially protected housing in Barcelona you must register with the Barcelona Protected Housing Applicants Register (RSHPOB), developed by the Barcelona Housing Consortium. It is a permanent register: anyone can apply at any time through any of the available channels (including by calling 010), individually or as a household, with one applicant representing the others. Requirements: being of age or an emancipated minor, having a housing need, being registered on the Barcelona padrón (for multi-member households, the main applicant), no member owning a home under the Regulation's terms, not exceeding the income limits and not being in any exclusion circumstance. Registration is valid for two years from the decision accepting it; once registered, those meeting the requirements of each allocation process can take part.

Official wording
La inscripció al registre tindrà una vigència de dos anys, a comptar des de la resolució administrativa d’acceptació de la sol·licitud d’inscripció.

FAQ

When am I removed?

Among other reasons: not renewing after two years, being allocated an owned HPO or no longer meeting the conditions. If you give up an allocation process or the allocated home without good reason, you cannot register again for five years.

Official wording
No renovar la sol·licitud passats els dos anys de vigència.

How are homes allocated?

Registering does not give you a home: registered applicants who meet each call’s requirements take part in the allocation processes.

Official wording
Una vegada inscrits, podran participar en els processos d’adjudicació aquells sol·licitants que compleixin els requisits exigits.
